This time of year is always busy for me. I have a couple of fun free-lance jobs coming up, one as researcher, another as editor. I’m continuing to work on the website with Denise Enck, and reading a couple of manuscripts by fellow writers Tony Robles and Jim Maughn. How can it be almost September already? Ah, time. I want to go to Seattle before winter; I miss that city and its clean, cold, fishy air. I’d like to learn more about two Filipinas who wrote for the Filipino newspapers in the 1930s: “L.A. Pinay,” and Helen Rillera. Who were they, and how did they feel about being the only female writers published in their respective journals? Just learned that the university Registrar’s office lost my petition for name change, along with the check I mailed them. Business as usual. And now I want another piece of xocolatl chocolate.
