Big clumps of Honey Mushrooms in Royal Oaks
park. Smaller clumps of Turkey Tails and un-
identified. Cups and saucers, pewter
                                      buttons
black-eyed susan would-be
                      a fleshy white butterfly
while below the duff, homokaryotic
mycelium
         lace, crewel work, de
         composing the dead
Aaron's tune of the day,
               brilliance suicided by
a blind spot, white
as amanita ocreata
                   the charge was pressed
                       amanita phalloides

what we serve, what we eat.

(Not so) random lines from my bookshelf:

THIS ANIMAL HAS BEEN SET FREE
____________________________________________
It says on a cage in the zoo
but beyond the bars the same brown eyes
stare sadly past me
where zookeepers prowl up and down bearing incense and candles.
