Sobranes 5

My painting, “Sobranes 5,” is available for sale on my  Saatchiart page; they provide a link if you’d like to make an offer. This painting is part of my Fire Season 2016 series, inspired by the recent Sobranes fire in the Big Sur area. Although my house was not threatened, living in nearby Monterey meant smoke-filled skies, anxious updates, and other everyday realities of the wildfire for several months. It naturally became the subject of my painting. I tend to interpret the fire and smoke through the use of bright (or saturated) colors and simple, hard-edged lines and shapes, contrasting with ethereal brushstrokes (sfumato).

Other paintings are available in my portfolio at, and you can contact me to make an offer (email info on the front page of my website).
